A vocational schoolsometimes also called a trade schoolcareer centeror vocational college is a type of educational institution, which, depending on the country, may refer to secondary or post-secondary education  designed to provide vocational educationor technical skills required to perform the tasks of a particular and specific job. In the case of secondary education, these schools differ from academic high schools which usually prepare students who aim to pursue tertiary education, rather than enter directly into the workforce. With regard to post-secondary education, vocational schools are traditionally distinguished from four-year colleges by their focus on job-specific training to students who are typically bound for one of the skilled trades rather than providing academic training for students pursuing careers in a professional discipline.

There are a variety of choices in training programs, and many of them not only prepare students to enter into a career but also prepare them to transition to college degree programs.

Career and Adult Education is delivered to our customers through a network of service providers, which include District Technical Centers, Adult Education Providers and Florida colleges.
Many career and technical courses are also offered at adult high schools and community schools. In addition, day and evening classes are held at locations around the county including worksites, community agencies, nursing homes, condominiums, and recreation centers. Sites may be scheduled upon request. There are seven education centers strategically located in Pinellas County where classes are offered.
